Golsfjellet Ski Resort

Golsfjellet Alpinsenter Bualie sits on the Golsfjellet plateau in the Hallingdal region, roughly 20 kilometres above the town of Gol. The small, easy-to-navigate family ski resort offers nine runs served by a modern six-seater chairlift and a button lift. The chairlift — in operation since November 2021 — is the heart of the resort, carrying skiers up to just over 1,090 metres, from where blue and red runs descend through gentle, open terrain back to the base.

The resort is deliberately geared towards families and beginners: a large children's area with its own slalom course, wave track and gates invites the youngest skiers to practise, while the terrain park with jumps and rails also caters to freestylers. Plenty of untouched powder off-piste rounds out the offering.

At the base, the café with large windows overlooking the slopes invites warming up with homemade sveler (Norwegian pancakes), waffles, hot drinks and snacks. From here, parents can watch their children in the kids' area without having to be on skis themselves. The Åttekanten Café and Bar offers a full food and drinks menu and can also be booked for private events.

The Golsfjellet plateau is a paradise for cross-country skiers: roughly 250 kilometres of groomed trails stretch across the expansive mountain terrain. For something different, mountain carts — rugged three-wheelers — can be taken down the slopes in winter. Nearby, the Storefjell Resort Hotel and Oset Fjellhotell provide accommodation, and ski-in/ski-out apartments are available right at the resort.

Ski rental and a ski school are located directly at the ski centre. Toboggans and snow racers are also available for hire. The town of Gol, with shops, restaurants and a train station, is roughly 20 minutes away by car.
