Ski operations to be permanently discontinued
The annual losses of 1.5 million Swiss francs had become too high: the Braunwald ski area will permanently cease ski operations starting with the 2026/2027 season. The lack of snow had also become increasingly apparent in the resort. The board of directors has now decided to take decisive action. All four chairlifts and drag lifts will be closed. Only the gondola lift and a conveyor belt will remain in operation for hikers and sledders.
In the future, Braunwald plans to focus on sustainable year-round tourism. This will include, for example, various routes for ski tourers.
