The Ski Resort
The Bärenstein ski lift is located in the Pöhbach valley on the border with the Czech Republic. A drag lift takes winter sports enthusiasts up to the 840-metre-high mountain peak, from where they can choose between three different pistes.
The tourist route has a length of 600 metres and is ideal for beginners with its width of 200 metres and blue marking. The downhill track is marked blue and red and with a length of 500 meters it is a bit shorter than the tourist track. Slightly advanced skiers and experienced skiers dare to climb the jump. The upper part is characterised by a steeper gradient, while the lower part is identical on all three downhill runs, so the total length of the run is one kilometre.
Every Saturday night skiing from 18.00 to 21.00 is possible even after dark. During the school holidays in Saxony the ski lift is also in operation on weekdays, otherwise only on weekends. The ski lifts Jöhstadt, Crottendorf and Sehmatal, which are very close to Bärenstein, offer further skiing pleasure.
