The 'highest' family ski resort in the Bavarian Forest

At 1.456m the Großer Arber is the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest and home to an outstanding family ski resort, which is a perfect destination for beginner skiers. Especially the renewed and enlarged Kids Zone called ArBär-Kinderland with a whopping five magic carpets scored in our test. The quiet area, comparatively low prices as well as gentle, snow-sure and well-groomed slopes in the western part of the ski resort suit ski novices best. The fact that the restaurants and mountain huts are distributed evenly throughout the ski resort is also remarkable and had a favorable effect on our test result.

Fans of Après-Ski, freestyle skiing and freeriding will not find paradise at Arber ski resort. Although intermediate and expert skiers certainly have great fun on the more difficult slopes (FIS Alpine Ski World Cup), there are some acres of skiable terrain missing in order to be able to provide even more variety and challenging runs especially for skiers on the more experienced side.

It is safe to say that families with kids and beginners will not find a better ski resort in the Bavarian Forest. All other skiing fans should definitely give this area a try. It’s worth it.

Good for families. Boring for experts.
We were on the Arber for the first time. The kids in our group found it great. But we were bored after a few hours. The view from the summit is great.

Great Family Ski Resort
My children have learned to ski on the Arber and like to spend the Sunday there with them on the piste.

The allrounder in the Bavarian Forest
The ski resort at the big Arber is one of the most beautiful in the Bavarian forest. The offer for beginners and families is particularly noteworthy. The Arber also scores from modern gondola and c... Read complete review
