The Cross-Country Area
Kavgolovo Training Center in Toksovo is located around 30km/19mi north of St Petersburg. The sports centre provides a training facility for athletes year round, which is why cross-country skiers and biathletes on the Russian national team also use the centre. The 3km/1.9mi roll ski track can be illuminated in winter.
One of Toksovo's special features is its 750m/820yd long ski tunnel. Going back and forth through the tunnel, you cover almost a mile. The tunnel is 8m/26ft wide, with a gradient of 18 percent max. Over several ascents, you overcome a total of 22.5m/74ft vertical drop. Use of the tunnel costs 500 rouble per day.

Kavgolovo Training Center is located 30km/19mi nort of St Petersburg. From there, drive to Toksovo via Murino. The biathlon centre is situated by the lake.
