The Ski Resort

The Snow Dome Bispingen in Germany’s Heidekreis district is Europe’s most state-of-the-art indoor ski centre. Within the interior space of 23,000 m², skiers, snowboarders and sledding fans can take to the 300-metre slope all year round for thrills and spills galore. The ski centre is run on a completely carbon-neutral basis and is divided into the “Snow Area”, sledding run and terrain park.

The beginners’ nursery slope is located off to one side, making it an ideal place for novices to learn the basics, and thanks to the magic carpet lifts, getting back up the hill is easy. And if professional instruction is required, you won’t have to look far to enlist the help of a ski instructor from the local school.

If you’re already a confident skier, you can tackle the 300-metre main slope. The upper section is somewhat steeper, with a gradient of roughly 20%, before the trail mellows further down. A six-person chairlift and button surface lift carry skiers back up the hill from the bottom, with the “summit” just 30 metre above sea level. The slope is lovingly referred to as the “Heide Glacier”

Freestyle skiers and snowboarders can take to the terrain park in the heart of the snow dome. It features all of the obstacles you’d expect from a modern park, including kickers and rails.

During the school holidays and at weekends, the ski centre is almost always open from 9 AM onwards. However, please note that it closes at 7 PM in the evening on Sundays and bank holidays.

On Mountain Dining

With cool Original Hofbräu beer on tap and delicious Bavarian specialities, you'd be forgiven for thinking that you were in Bavaria on entering the neighbouring Hofbräu Wirtshaus. In true Bavarian style, the restaurant offers a sizeable beer garden with a large play area in summer. During the winter months, there’s also live Bavarian music at the weekends to keep the punters happy.

Must-Ski Runs

The top of the 300-meter run is served by a six-person chairlift and surface lift.

Activities

Sledders are free to hop on the chairlift alongside skiers and enjoy some sled-bound action on the main slope. The sledding price includes sled rental, as the ski centre’s own sleds are specifically designed to work well on this type of snow.

Snow Dome fans can make a short break out of a trip here by staying at the neighbouring Hotel Bispingen. The resort consists of 15 log cabins, and it’s the ideal base for exploring the Lüneburger Heide region. Most attractions are easy to reach from here, as the extensive cycle network and popular Heidschnucken walking trail run directly past the Snow Dome Bispingen.

Après-Ski and Nightlife

Lovers of Bavarian cuisine will be in their element with cool Original Hofbräu beer served by the litre and authentic Bavarian food. Complemented by Bavarian live bands, Hofbräu shows and a team of waiters and waitresses dressed in Dirndl and Lederhosen, it’s easy to forget that you’re in the heart of northern Germany. This is a pretty memorable destination for stag nights, birthdays, company events, Christmas parties or simply as a day out with the family!

Dining and Restaurants

The restaurant is separated into several subareas, making it ideal for a range of different purposes:
a quick business lunch, a cosy evening meal in one of our stylish lounges, a Bavarian buffet in our authentic mountain lodge area or a party in our Bavarian disco – there’s something for just about every event and budget here.

And the best bit: virtually every part of the restaurant boasts views of the ski runs!
