Located on the island of Honshu, Hakuba is one of Japan's most famous winter sport resorts. Several events were held here during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.

The Happo One - Hakuba ski resort offers skiers and snowboarders a total of 52 kilometers (32 miles) of groomed runs of all difficulty levels. 23 lifts are ready to take winter sports enthusiasts to altitudes of up to 1,831 meters (6,000 feet). An interesting peculiarity: There are no t-bars in the resort. The 23 lifts are made up of 22 chair lifts and one gondola.

Hakuba Valley is also known for its freeride hot spots. Quite a few professionals come here regularly every year.
