The Cross-Country Area

Sugarloaf Outdoor Center in the West of Maine comprises a total of 90 kilometers (56 miles) of trails, suited for classic cross-country and skating alike. Maine's largest Nordic Centerguides you through pictoresque forests and past beautiful lakes. In case you get cold or need a little break, several huts can found near the trails.

With 13 different trails, everyone will find a suitable route according to their skill and experience level. There are trails for beginners, families, casual cross-country skiers and real experts. 3.5 kilometers (2.1 miles) of trail can even be explored together with your dog. 

The necessary equipment can be rented at the Nordic Center. Sugarloaf also offers cross-country ski lessons. 

Other Activities

An ice skating rink is located directly at the lodge near the trail entry point. Additionally, guests can go snowshoeing, fatbiking or go for a ride through the winter landscape on a dog sleigh.

The Most Beautiful Tracks

The Nordic Race Loop is 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) long and an ideal trail for experienced cross-country skiers. It was groomed especially for professional competitions.

Dining along the Tracks

Bull Moose Cafe is open from 10 am to 3 pm. Enjoy the cafe's soups, sandwiches, cakes and hot beverages, of course. 

Getting Here

The easiest way to Sugarloaf Outdoor Center is flying to the airports in Boston, Portland or Bangor. From there, it takes approximately two to four hours by car. The ski area is located about a mile south of Sugarloaf Access Road. There are parking spaces available directly at the trail entry.
