Park City Special: Deer Valley

Ski vacations in Deer Valley are a high class experience! Everything is a little bit more luxurious in the privately run ski area than elsewhere. Deer Valley Ski Area has several times been voted best ski resort in the world by readers of the American Ski Magazine. However, snowboarders have to stay out of the posh ski area.

Buying the lift ticket, you might find yourself looking around surprised, because in Deer Valley there is no electronic card system.  Instead, there is a cardboard card, which is to attach to the zipper of the jacket. But do not let yourself be blinded by this. The operators of the ski area do not spare any costs and efforts, to make the ski experience in Deer Valley something special.

Perfectly groomed slopes, no queues at the lifts, gourmet restaurants – this is Deer Valley. The operators applied a 5 star service of a hotel to the ski area. Therefore, there is a very special service, the ski valet. This means you do not need to worry about anything concerning your skis. You will find a helper standing e.g. at the parking spot, who will unload your skis and carry it to the lift. Ski service and storage is a matter of course in all hotels of the ski area. Generally, the notedly friendliness and helpfulness stand out in this ski area. A friendly „Hello, how are you today? “will welcome you at every lift.

Undisturbed ski pleasure on Deer Valley’s slopes
Skiing at Deer Valley  you will often find yourself  all alone on the slopes. The reason for this is that not more than 6500 lift tickets are sold daily. With the area measuring 2000 acres (809 ha) and 6 peaks, the skiers quickly spread out throughout the whole ski area. Countless slopes are to choose from: perfectly groomed ones or runs all the way through birch forests.

The ski area is popular especially among families. In particular Little Baldy Peak, Bald Eagle Mountain and Flagstaff Mountain where you can find numerous easy and middle category slopes are well renowned. But Deer Valley is also attractive for real professionals. At Bald Mountain, the Lady Morgan Area and the Daly Bowls there are not only plenty slopes of the black category but also the so called Double Back Diamond Runs- the hardest category. Snowboarders, however, have to stay out of the ski area so they won’t disturb the skiers.

Stein Eriksen is the icon of the Deer Valley
It does not matter if you are a beginner or a skilled skier, there is one slope that you can not miss at Deer Valley. This run is named after Stein Eriksen, the Norwegian skier and giant slalom Olympic champion in 1952, who chose to settle down here after his sporting success. During the last season you could see him every morning skiing down this slope.

Stein Eriksen is a living legend in Deer Valley. He is not only the director of the ski area but also the one the Stein Eriksen Lodge is named after. The hotel offers pure luxury and has an excellent cuisine. The luxury resort is gigantic! There are 145 fire places and the wellness area alone is 2130 m² big. Big= Good, is the equation in the USA. And so, villas with more than 20 bathrooms are not rare at the Deer Valley.
