Nadia Styger victorious in the downhill in Whistler

Nadia Styger of Switzerland finally won her first downhill race in the World in Whistler. The Swiss native started in 11th position and clocked the best time. Lindsey Vonn was only 0,01 seconds behind Styger and came in second. Another American racer, Julia Mancuso, was third in the end.

Janyk nearly missed the podium
Britt Janyk, who learned skiing in Whistler and still lives there, was fourth in front of her home crowd. Renate Goetschl and Anja Paerson, two experienced skiers, were fifth and sixth. Nadia Fanchini from Italy, fastest in the training session on Wednesday, was 8th. Maria Riesch from Germany was on her way to a podium place when she crashed in the last part of the course.

Vonn clinching the downhill World Cup
With the second place finish, Lindsey Vonn clnched the downhill World Cup globe, her first of the career. The American is now 287 points ahead of Renate Goetschl with only two races left. Also in the Overall World Cup, Vonn is leading the way and is ahead of Nicole Hosp who finished only in 15th place.
