Men´s U.S. Ski Team Trains for World Cup Racing at Mt. Bachelor

Mt. Bachelor is proud to host the Men´s U.S. Ski Team to train this spring for the World Cup race circuit. The top skiers in the nation including Ted Ligety, Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion, have been at Mt. Bachelor since May 10th focusing on speed training for the Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom World Cup events next winter.
Mt. Bachelor‟s consistent snow depth during the spring months allows the U.S. Ski Team to depend on ample terrain for race training. In addition to the World Cup team, the Men‟s U.S. Development and Technical Teams are also training at Mt. Bachelor. A variety of race courses have been created for U.S. athletes to work on speed racing fundamentals on the „Coffee‟ and „Canyon‟ runs off the Pine Marten Express lift.
According to Mike Day, U.S. Ski Team Head Men´s Technical Coach “We chose to bring the team to Mt. Bachelor because of the great terrain to train on this time of year, not to mention Bend is an extremely nice town to base out of for our operations.”
In addition to hosting the Men‟s U.S. Ski Team and recent Superpark 15 event, Mt. Bachelor will also host the U.S. and Canadian National Nordic teams during the second session of the spring Nordic season, operating June 10-20, 2011. The reliable late-season snowpack and ski conditions Mt. Bachelor is famous for provides an optimal venue for the world‟s elite athletes to train longer into the spring to gain a step-up on the competition heading into following winter season.
