Mario Matt wins in Zagreb

Mario Matt is the big winner of the men´s slalom in Zagreb, which was held for the first time in the World Cup. The Austrian won in front of a huge crowd on the slope of Sljeme near Zagreb.

Kostelic second
Second behind Matt in the end was Ivica Kostelic who had a delay of 0,33 seconds. Kostelic was cheered on by his fans and nearly came through with a victory. Reinfried Herbst came in third after he won the slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen just a week ago. Herbst was 0,40 seconds behind his teammate Matt. Giorgio Rocca from Italy missed the podium and was fourth in the end. Still it was a great result for the Italian who is still waiting for his first podium since November 2006.

Other Favorites struggled
Some of the other favorites didn´t have their best day as they made mistakes which prevented them of getting a good result. Manfred Moelgg from Italy was only 13th and Benjamin Raich came in as 26th after a huge mistake in the lower part. Bode Miller, the main contender for the Overall World Cup, failed to qualify for the final run after some mistakes in the first run.
