Didier Cuche wins thriller in Val Gardena

created on Feb 27, 2008
Didier Cuche had the luck on his side this time. So often he missed the victory by a small margin but at the super G in Val Gardena he was only 0,02 seconds ahead of Bode Miller and 0,04 seconds ahead Marco Buechel from Liechtenstein.

Benjamin Raich the best Austrian
Didier Defago, a teammate of Didier Cuche, came in as a good 4th and Erik Guay had another great result with his 5th place finish in Val Gardena. Patrick Staudacher, the reigning World Champion in super G, was 6th in the end. The best Austrian on Friday was Benjamin Raich in 7th place. After they had dominated the super G in Beaver Creek, this was a disappointing result for the Austrian team.

Maier back in the Top Ten
Hannes Reichelt, the winner of the super G in Beaver Creek, came in as 10th. Still this was again a top ten result for the Austrian. Hermann Maier is coming back in shape and was in a good 8th place while Michael Walchhofer came in as 14th.
