Völkl Mantra M7 (Powder Ski 2024/2025)

Product Summary

The Völkl Mantra M7's full retail price is €850. The Ski costs roughly €170 more than the average price of all Powder Skis, making it a real premium Ski. The ski is very smooth and forgiving. It's the perfect tool for intermediate skiers. The Powder Ski prefers perfectly groomed runs over fresh powder. However due to its medium-width waist, this ski is also a good shout for riders who like to venture off piste from time to time. The ski is available from 163 to 191cm. The ski is very agile and performs well in all sizes of turn radius - both long and short. The radius ranges from 13,70 m to 19,70 m (depending on the length of the ski).

The ski in details

How do you improve a legend? You retain the features that made the ski famous and add the latest innovations, such as the new 4 Radius Drive sidecut technology which allow progress where a year ago you couldn’t see any room to further push your limits.

These next-generation skis are characterised by increased stability, liveliness and maneuverability and offer even more versatility for an exciting experience on and off the groomers. The secret to their enhanced performance lies in Völkl’s innovations: the Tailored Titanal Frame ensures stability, while the Tailored Carbon Tips provide responsiveness. In contrast to its predecessor, the M6 Mantra, the M7 Mantra uses 4 Radius Drive design – an advanced development of the proven 3D Radius Sidecut and an innovation from Völkl that is not yet found in any other model. With this technology, Völkl sets a new benchmark for the ability to vary the turn radius to combine easy handling with rock-solid stability. Maximum versatility for various snow conditions both on piste and off piste, with increased stability on hard surfaces and improved performance on soft snow. By adapting the Titanal components to the various ski lengths and thus to the skier’s proportions, not only can the tip and tail ends be weight-optimised, but the torsional stiffness can also be influenced, thereby improving the ride qualities. This retains the familiar stability of a Titanal ski while also making the Mantra M7 noticeably lighter and more agile to control. The handling characteristics of the Mantra M7 are also enhanced by the tailored carbon tip. The dedicated positioning of the carbon fibres results in a precise tip response and vastly improves the ski’s torsional stiffness. Together, these advancements redefine skiing possibilities, setting a new standard for enjoyment on the slopes.

Technologies

Tip & Tail Rocker
Character: Bends up only in the shovel and tail zones, with a camber shape in the middle

Tailored Carbon Tips
In this innovative manufacturing process the new Tailored Carbon Tips are produced by embroidering the individual carbon fibers onto a carrier material. This allows them to be positioned exactly along the stress lines, opening up completely new possibilities, for performance at the front of the ski, which has a decisive influence on the handling of the ski.

Tailored Titanal Frame
In contrast to the previous design, the width of the titanal frame is now adapted exactly to each individual ski length. This results in Tailored Titanal Frames, which are positioned above the sidewall along the tip and tail area of the ski to provide the desired damping and torsional stiffness.

Full Sidewall
Direct and strong powertransmission with full length sidewalls.

Base P-Tex 2100
A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability

Multilayer Woodcore 1
The side wall is laminated to extremely stable layers of wood on the sides of the sandwich core.

4 Radius Drive
A Völkl innovation not yet offered by any other manufacturer. With this technology, Völkl sets a new benchmark for the ability to vary the turn radius and combine easy handling with rock-solid stability. This new design provides maximum versatility for various snow conditions both on piste and off piste, increased stability on hard surfaces, and improved performance on soft snow.
Radius 1:

  • Approx. 20 m in the frontmost 10 centimeters
  • A tighter radius only in the shovel to achieve a more immediate response to the skier‘s initial edge movement; maximum precision and agility

Radius 2:

  • Approx. 40 m in the area between the shovel and the binding
  • The open radius in the front part of the ski gives the ski more resistance to disturbances and stability at speed

Radius 3:

  • Approx. 15 m in the area under the binding
  • The tight radius in the camber area provides the ski with more agility even with slight edge movements of the skier, ensuring the necessary buildup of dynamics for short turns and radical carving curves.

Radius 4:

  • Approx. 25 meters in the area behind the binding up to the ski end
  • The moderate radius at the ski end ensures controlled and situation-adapted dynamics at the end of the turn and provides optimal support for transitioning into the next curve.
